OUR CLUB
Introduction
Established in 1983, the Greystanes Goannas is one of the largest and most successful clubs in the AFL Greater Western Sydney Juniors competition.
Our floodlit home ground, Goanna Park (Gipps Road Sporting Complex), Smithfield has the best facilities of any junior AFL club in the region, and is shared with the Holroyd Parramatta Goannas Mens and Womens team. During the junior AFL season we also host weekly fun, non-competitive Auskick sessions to introduce children aged 5-12 years to the great game of Aussie Rules.
Our mission is to provide everyone with the opportunity to be part of a family-based community club that promotes being active, good sportsmanship and mateship in an enjoyable and positive environment.
In 2021 we're fielding teams in the following age groups;
Auskick for girls and boys (new to the game or aged between 5 and 12yrs)
BOYS
U9 - U10 - U11 - U12 - U13s - U17s
GIRLS
U11 - U13 - U15
OUR MOTTO
Junior sporting organisations have an opportunity to play a significant role in the personal development of its playing group on and off the field. Unfortunately, and in most cases, the focus is purely on the result of the match rather than co developing a childs skillset across all facets of life.
For the player to be bigger than their opponent when confronted with un-intended match situations
For parents to be bigger than the opposition supporters and set the benchmark for sportsmanship
For the coaching group to think bigger about the on-field and off-field development of their playing group
For the committee to think bigger when strategically planning our future and the experience we offer our members
For all members to think bigger and buy into what we are trying to achieve as a club
CORE VALUES
CULTURE
Junior sporting organisations have a responsibility to develop a culture that promotes inclusivity regardless of age, race, religious beliefs, gender, or sporting ability. The Goannas have a rich and diverse cultural history, across all ages and gender types.
COMMUNITY
To be engaged in community activities and being a role model at all times when out and about across our wider community. To represent they Greystanes community with pride when playing at home or away
